No buttermilk Crispy Fried Chicken wings

Delicious Super crispy wings, juicy in all its glory and hassle free to make. Crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside kind of chicken wings.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg Chicken wings About 3.4pounds
  • 1 1/2 Cup Flour
  • 1/3 Cup cup soda water
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • Veg oil for frying
  • 1 tsp tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1/3 cup Soda water
  • 1 tsp smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp powdered chicken stock
  • 1/2 tsp Brown Sugar For Glazing

Instructions

  • Cut your chicken wings into two if not already done.
  • Wash the chicken wings and pat dry with a Paper towel
  • Season chicken wings with half of the salt, cayenne pepper , smoked paprika, powdered chicken stock, onion powder, black pepper and garlic powder . Combine together then marinade for 1 -4hours.
  • Add frying oil to a skillet or deep frying pan and heat up
  • In a medium size bowl slightly whisk 2 eggs and soda water together. Add left over seasoning to flour and mix thoroughly
  • Dip chicken wings (one at a time if possible ) in Egg mixture
  • Coat chicken with flour mixture, you can can double this process if you want it super crunchy.
  • Fry wings for 8-10 mins turning it occasionally until golden brown
  • Using a tong, remove and place in a paper towel lined tray and divide into two parts.

TO MAKE OUR SPICY BUTTER GLAZE

  • In a small plate, melt butter then add a pinch of cayenne pepper ,1/3 tsp paprika and brown sugar. Mix it all together and glaze your chicken with the sauce.

Notes

  1. CAN I MAKE THIS IN THE OVEN: You certainly can make them in the oven. Using the same technique put the wings in a Lined baking tray, spray with some cooking spray. Bake for 30 mins flipping it on both sides to ensure it does not burn.
  2. DO YOU HAVE TO MARINADE YOUR CHICKEN WINGS: I will say yes because this makes it more flavourful. If you are pressed for time you can allow it marinade for 10 mins or thereabout.
